About Terra Rhapsody

Terra Rhapsody is a small business based in Wrexham, North Wales, specialising in detailed handmade 1:12 dollhouse miniatures and dioramas. Each miniature is created by upcycling natural, reclaimed and repurposed materials rescued from destruction. This makes every Terra Rhapsody creation unique and made with earth in mind. Terra Rhapsody will also plant one tree for every 30 orders received. Jewellery and customised gifts are also available.

 

Miniatures made with earth in mind

Terra Rhapsody Miniatures and Gifts began in 2009 under a different name, but with a wish to create a more unique and sustainable brand creating jewellery and miniatures. Designs began to emerge from vintage watch parts and glass vials, with some designs incorporating miniature scenes to encapsulate worlds to take with you wherever you go. After making several small scale dioramas for necklaces, it was clear an avenue of larger minis was necessary.

In 2020, the Terra Rhapsody miniatures were released from the bounds of just jewellery, explanding into detailed and unique 1:12 scale dolls house miniatures, dioramas, box frames and miniature keepsakes.

Terra Rhapsody Miniatures and Gifts are made primarily from natural, reclaimed and repurposed materials, many rescued from destruction or purchased from charity shops and antiques emporiums.

Meet the Maker

"Hi, I'm Kitty and I am a miniaturist! Terra Rhapsody is my 'side hustle' and while I have no miniature qualifications besides an art GCSE, I have an educational background in geology and a main hustle in the medical device industry. After I got my first job in the oil industry after graduating University, I was left disapointed at the jewellery offerings in shops so began making my own. I began to think of ways I could make my jewellery different, sustainable and unique without being costly. The oil industry made me lose a little hope for the environment, and in this small way, I wanted to give something back. I loved incorporating glass vials into my work, serving as tiny glass havens for miniature worlds you could wear. After a while, all I wanted to do was make miniature worlds, and realised items of jewellery were not the only place that my miniatures could live. I started working in larger scales and began to realise making miniatures came quite naturally to me.

Making miniatures is something I can be passionate about while also doing some good and reducing waste entering landfill. I love creating miniature scenes and watching a beautiful representation rise out of materials that would otherwise be in landfill. I have an extensive stash of repurposed and reclaimed materials, preloved and natural items waiting to be incorporated into a Terra Rhapsody miniature."

One Tree Planted for Every 30 orders received

In addition to the eco-conscious attitude, Terra Rhapsody will plant one tree for every 30 orders received across all selling platforms. Once 30 orders are received, a tree is planted by dedicating a tree via the NationalForest.org website in the name of Terra Rhapsody. While this is only a small gesture towards the environment, each tree is left as part of the Terra Rhapsody legacy to benefit the planet for years to come. As well as a carbon store, the tree will also provide shelter and sustainance for local wildlife
